Engr. Susan C. Benitez
“Susan” Benitez is currently the Vice President for Production of Asian Alcohol Corporation. She finished her Masters in Chemical Engineering at Central Philippine University, Iloilo City. She was an active member of PIChE Negros Occidental Chapter since 1990 and served as PIChE-NOC director for sometime. She focused her Chemical Engineering Profession in Environmental Protection and Alcohol Distillery operations.
She is a recipient of 2009 Outstanding Chemical Engineer Award (Industry category for Environmental Management) for her significant and dedicated accomplishments in the field of Industry Environmental Management in pursuit of excellence in the practice of Chemical Engineering Profession. She was elected as PIChE Director for Visayas during the 2009 Annual Convention.
Engr. Proserfina M. Coro

Engr Proserfina Matugas-Coro is presently the President of Siargao Island Tourism Development Council; Director of the following educational institute, namely: Siargao Island Institute of Technology, Northeastern Mindanao Colleges, Woodridge College; Director/Treasurer of Ridge Estate Development Corporation and Siargao Island Tour & Travel, Inc. Also she is a consultant of LGU-Del Carmen & active in civic & religious organizations & at present, President of People's & Religious Organization in Brgy Tuboran & helps in the livelihood projects in the barangay. Her family donated a one (1) hectare lot for the establishment of High School in Brgy Tuboran.
She graduated from University of San Carlos in Cebu City with the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. She is also a master degree holder in Business Administration.
Engr Coro is a recipient of various Recognitions & Awards such as, among others, "Board's Recognition" from Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Chemical Engineering; "Most Outstanding Terminal Supervisor" from Philippine Ports Authority; "Plaque of Appreciation" from Department of Education Siargao Division, etc.
Engr. Noel E. Aguirre National Secretary
Engr. Noel Aguirre is a faculty member of the University of St. La Salle College of Engineering. He is also a candidate for the Master in Environmental Engineering degree.
Engr. Aguirre is a member of the Negrense Food Consulting Group. The group handles GMP and HACCP trainings and seminars for MSMEs in food business.
He had an intensive experience in the ethanol industry as a Process Engineer in the Fermentation Department of Asian Alcohol Corporation. He was also instrumental in developing the Provincial Feed and Meat Laboratory of the Province of Negros Occidental.
Engr. Aguirre is the current President of PIChE-Negros Occidental Chapter.
Engr. Carmel C. Gacho
Vice President for NCR
Carmel has over 20 years of experience in environmental management which includes R & D on wastewater treatment, hazardous waste recovery, treatment and disposal, treatability studies of industrial and laboratory wastewater, design of wastewater treatment facilities, water quality monitoring, policy studies and preparation of documents for environmental compliance. She has presented and published several papers on biological and chemical treatment of industrial wastewater and waste utilization technologies in international and local conferences, and journals.
She is currently a supervising science research specialist at the Environment and Biotechnology Division, Industrial Technology Development Institute of the Department of Science and Technology, and is the project leader of the Institute’s hazardous waste management program. Likewise, Dr. Gacho is a United Nation Secretary General’s qualified expert in the investigation of chemical, biological and toxin weapons where she completed the training course in Paris, France. Her other responsibilities involve participation as co-chair or member to inter-agency technical working groups, in particular the Philippine Council on Sustainable Development.
Engr. Gacho received her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and a Master’s degree in Chemistry at the De La Salle University. Further, she obtained her Ph.D. degree in Environmental Science cognate in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry at the University of the Philippines, Los Banos.
Engr. Arjames T. Balgoa
Vice President for Luzon
Arjames Balgoa graduated with BS Chemical Engineering from the University of the Philippines Diliman in 2004. With hardwork and prayers, he landed on the Top 10 of the November 2004 Chemical Engineering Board Examinations. He worked for a year at Pharma Industries - Interphil Laboratories in Canlubang, Laguna and then pursued graduate studies in Bangkok, Thailand. He finished his International Master’s degree in Petrochemical Technology from The Petroleum and Petrochemical College of Chulalongkorn University. He was very fortunate to have performed his Master’s thesis on Asphaltene Precipitation from Crude Oils in the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor and have been mentored by the renowned Chemical Reaction Engineering book author and AIChE President Prof. H. Scott Fogler.
Upon return to the country in 2009, he pursued his niche in crude oils and worked on the biggest oil refinery in the Philippines – Petron Corporation. Currently, he is the Chief Process Design Engineer in Petron Bataan Refinery. He has been very active in PIChE Bataan since 2009 becoming its top member - Kapartner Na Maaasahan in 2010, Vice President in 2011 and President in 2012. With his experiences in steering PIChE Bataan in trailblazing to new heights, he calls for full support from his fellow Chemical Engineers, especially in Luzon, as he currently leads as the PIChE National Vice President for Luzon.
Engr. Charmaine D. Jamandre
Vice President for Visayas
Chamaigne Luz S. de la Gente- Jamandre is PIChE-Panay President in 1999, 2000 and 2007 to the present. She has served PIChE as National Secretary in 2001 and 2002 and as Board of Director in 2004. Holder of Master in Engineering and Master in Industrial Technology, she is currently connected with the Chemical Engineering Department of the College of Engineering and Architecture of the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City. She is an experienced product developer and researcher, an entrepreneur, Manufacturing Productivity improvement, Cleaner Production and Energy Audit technical consultant/assessor.

Engr. Mamerto A. Irasga graduated from the University of Mindanao with a degree in B.S. Chemical Engineering in 1974. He has worked as Process Engineer in MMIC-Surigao Nickel Refinery for about 6 years (1974-1980), the first and largest nickel refinery in the Philippines then. Then, worked as Project Analyst in a quasi-banking of Private Development Corp. of the Philippines for 9 years (1981 – 1990). Then became an entrepreneur for twenty years in photo and video productions (1990 – 2010). Lastly, he has worked again for three years (2010 – 2013) in Madagascar, South Africa in the Ambatovy Nickel Refinery, the first and largest nickel and cobalt refinery in Madagascar.
Engr. Cyd P. Aguilera
Engr. CYD PUERTOLLANO AGUILERA finished her B.S. Chemical Engineering degree at the University of Santo Tomas and earned 48 units leading to a degree of Masters in Business Administration from La Salle Business School.
She started as a Systems Analyst with the Brewery and then an Industrial Engineer conducting systems studies, work standards studies, and work improvements, as well as training quality teams develop improvement projects that results in cost reductions and streamlined processes and Is currently the Quality Management Specialist on Food Safety of San Miguel Pure Foods Company who conducts trainings, consultations, and audits to assist plants and facilities nationwide achieve third party certifications on GMP, HACCP, ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 22000:2005.
She is a Philippine Quality Award Assessor for five years and a recipient of a Competent Toastmasters Award. She is the Treasurer of PIChE Polo Chapter and currently the Treasurer of the PIChE National Board of Directors.
Married to Rev. Kenneth V. Aguilera, a pastor of Unida Ecumenical Church and a mother to two eligible bachelors: Keith Carl P. Aguilera who finished B. S. Information Technology and has a Grand Diploma in Professional Culinary Arts, Baking, and Pastry and Chrys Kristofferson Aguilera who holds a degree in Medical Technology and in Medicine, she takes most pleasure in being the woman behind the success of Rev Kenneth Aguilera where she supports and assists his ministry by playing the organ or piano, by conducting the choir, by cooking for the congregation, by teaching in Sunday’s schools or leading in Bible studies as the need arises.

Engr. Nathaniel P. Dugos is the Vice-Chair of the Chemical Engineering Department of De La Salle University, Manila. He earned his M.S. and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from the De La Salle University, Manila. Currently, he is the treasurer of the PICHE- Metro Manila Academe Chapter. He has more than 10 years experience in teaching professional chemical engineering subjects and likewise has a considerable years of experience as consultant of various industries.
Engr. Petra C. Cadawan Director for Luzon
Engr. Petra C. Cadawan is a graduate of Saint Louis University BSChE in 1979 and MA Chemistry at Benguet State University in 2005. She used to be a Manager at Benguet Corporation-a gold mining firm. Presently, she is a professor at Benguet State University, La Trinidad, Benguet. On the side, she is the Executive Secretary and Treasurer of a newly established renewable energy firm- Enerhighlands Corporation who in partnership with a foreign investor is venturing into the development of minihydro plants in the province of Ifugao.
She is the Immediate Past President of the Baguio Benguet Chapter. She has always been an active in the chapter whether as a regular member or an officer.
Pet is married Clarito S. Cadawan, a geologist. She is blessed with four children and three grand children.
Engr. Teodorico A. Funtanar
Director for Visayas
Rico Funtanar is currently the Materials Management Division Head of Taiheiyo Cement Philippines Inc., (formerly known as Grand Cement Manufacturing Corporation). He was the Operations Division Manager until 2011, with expertise on refractories application.
He has also worked as Research Metallurgist, Concentrators Mill Foreman, Lime Plant Manager, and Tailings Disposal/Water Supply Manager for Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation for a span of 14 years.
Rico is an alumnus of Adamson University, batch 1979. He hails from Sorsogon in the Bicol Region. His interests include travel, intergalactic space, forex and stock markets, and badminton.
He is married to Maria Eleanor Saldua with whom he has two sons and two daughters.
Engr. Rex Manuel P. Paayas
Director for Mindanao
“Rex” Manuel Paayas is the Thermal Process Specialist in the Corporate QA of Del Monte Philippines Incorporated. He is also a Part Time Faculty at the ChE Department, Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan since 2008. An active member of PIChE since 1990, he became the Cagayan de Oro Chapter President in 2007. He was elected to the National Board in 2008 as PIChE National Director for Mindanao and re-elected in 2009 and again in 2011 as the PIChE National VP-Mindanao. For this year, he will serve again as one of the PIChE-NBOD for Mindanao. He was the author of the Annual PIChE Mindanao Joint Chapters Plant Tour that is already in its 7th year this October 2014. PIChE opened to him new challenges and opportunities in the field of Chemical Engineering. It greatly contributes to his growth professionally as a Chemical Engineer.
For his unwavering commitment, unselfish dedication and leadership in uplifting and enriching the level of competence of Chemical Engineers specially in Mindanao and spearheading the first oath-taking ceremonies of Chemical Engineers in Cagayan de Oro City and conducted for the first time the same event even before the national oath taking ceremonies, he was given a “Token of Recognition” by the PRC Board of Chemical Engineering on May 2010.
Engr. Jonathan C. Aquino
Director for Luzon
Jonathan C. Aquino is currently an executive of San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation, the packaging unit of San Miguel Corporation jointly ventured with Nihon Yamamura Glass Co. of Japan. He is currently the Asst Vice President and Plant Manager of San Miguel Yamamura Asia Corporation, a manufacturing facility located in Imus, Cavite engaged in the design and production of container glass serving both the domestic and international market.
Jonathan is a graduate of BS Chemical Engineering at the Mapua Institute of Technology and earned his Masteral degree in Business Administration at the De La Salle University in Manila.
He is currently the president of the PIChE Cavite Chapter. He is part of the original organizing/founding members of the Cavite Chapter in 1994 when it hosted the national convention in Manila at the time (with Polo Chapter). From then on, he served the chapter at various capacities until recently he is elected as one of the Luzon Directors in the PIChE NBOD.
Being a first timer in joining the organization at the national level, he hopes to be able to contribute to the cause of the profession having with him the same passion and enthusiasm as with the Cavite chapter.
Engr. Reynaldo L. Esguerra
Engr. Reynaldo “Rey” L. Esguerra is the Division Chief of the Environment and Biotechnology Division of the Industrial Technology Development Institute of the Department of Science and Technology. He completed his B.S. Chemical Engineering and Master of Engineering (Chemical Engineering, magna cum laude) at the Mapua Institute of Technology. He was the PIChE National President in 2010-11 and held various positions in the National Board of Directors prior to this since 2006.
He is The Outstanding Mapua Awardee in the field of practice of Chemical Engineering in 2013. He has also served as consultants to various resource efficient and cleaner production and industrial environmental management projects funded by both local and international donor agencies. He also currently chairs the International Working Group on Environmental Technology Verification, an international body composed of the European Union, Canada, Korea, Japan and the Philippines.
Engr. Eriberto D. Pineda

Eriberto "Bert" D. Pineda is the current Chairman of the PIChE College of Fellows, a past National President of PIChE(1999-2000), and also the current president of the Industrial Research Foundation (IRF).
